1 dead, 5 hurt as speeding electric SUV rams multiple vehicles, crashes into food stall in Navi Mumbai

NAVI MUMBAI: One person was killed and five others were injured after a speeding electric SUV went out of control and rammed into a scooter, a tempo and an autorickshaw in Taloja Phase-1 of Navi Mumbai on Tuesday afternoon. The accident occurred around 12.30 pm, barely 200 metres from the Taloja police chowkie in Sector 10. The scooter rider died on the spot, while five others sustained injuries. The SUV came to a halt after crashing into a roadside vada pav stall, where two men waiting to eat snacks suffered minor injuries. The driver fled the scene after the vehicle was severely damaged in the crash.Pravin Bhagat, senior inspector of Taloja said, "The accused SUV driver has been identified from the CCTV footage at the spot where he is seen running away after the accident. The biker was declared brought dead at MGM hospital, Kamothe, where the five injured persons are undergoing treatment. One injured person is reportedly critical in the ICU. A special team has been formed to trace the accused SUV driver."
