100% road tax rebate on new BS-VI, EVs

Lucknow: After the Central govt approved ‘Parivartan Yojana’ to address air pollution in the Delhi-NCR, promote clean transportation and phase out old trucks and buses, UP transport department has decided to effectively implement this scheme in the state’s NCR region.Under this scheme, 100% motor vehicle tax (road tax) rebate will be provided on the purchase of new vehicles (BS-VI or electric) and 50% on the purchase of old/used vehicles (BS-VI/EV). This rebate will be valid for 10 years, said the official release.Besides, 100% rebate in registration fee will be provided on registration of new vehicles purchased under the scheme. Tax liabilities pending for more than a year on BS+, II, III and IV class buses and trucks registered in the NCR region will be waived. This benefit will be available to vehicle owners who scrap their vehicles through an authorised Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility (RVSF).Vehicle owners will receive a 5% interest subvention for diesel/CNG vehicles, fuel vouchers and a one-time benefit ranging from Rs 64,000 to Rs 2,56,000 for electric vehicles, depending on the vehicle category.
