11 workers injured in accident at under-construction forest building on JLN Marg

Jaipur: Around a dozen construction workers were injured following a collapse at an under-construction building inside the Forestry Training Institute (FTI) campus on JLN Marg Monday evening.

The accident occurred during the casting of the iron slabs to support a new roof, leaving several workers trapped beneath the debris and ensuing chaos at the construction site.Emergency responders rushed 11 injured workers to the trauma centre at the SMS Hospital. Nine of them were kept under observation, while two were discharged after giving them first aid treatment.Gandhi Nagar Station House Officer (SHO) Bhajan Lal said, “The under-construction building belongs to the state forest department.

The accident occurred while iron slabs for laying a roof were being cast. The support pipes beneath the slabs became unstable and collapsed. Eleven workers were injured. Fortunately, there was no loss of life.”FTI Director Akanksha Choudhary said, “The building is being constructed as a Centre of Excellence. The first-floor slabs collapsed during casting. We immediately informed the police and ambulance services, and all the injured received timely medical treatment.

Nine workers are under observation, but none has suffered serious injuries.”Deputy medical officer at SMS Hospital, Dr Pradeep Sharma, said, “Teams from the surgery, ENT and other departments are evaluating conditions of the injured. So far, none of the patients appears to be in the red zone.”As investigation into the causes of the collapse was to begin, forest officials assured they were taking steps to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all construction workers.
