124.6kg ganja seized in West Champaran, two arrested

Bettiah: Acting on a tip-off, police seized 124.6 kg of ganja from an SUV on Majhaulia-Mahna main road near Cheilabhar village in West Champaran district on Saturday. Two traffickers were arrested, while two others riding a motorcycle managed to escape during the operation.The arrested men were identified as Deepak Kumar (27), a resident of Kaudihar Chowk in Raxaul, and Anuj Kumar (18), a resident of the ITI locality in Bettiah.According to police, preliminary interrogation revealed that the consignment had been brought from Raxaul and was to be delivered to Lohiyaria. Investigators suspect the seizure is linked to an organised narcotics trafficking network and have intensified efforts to identify other members of the syndicate.Majhaulia SHO Amar Kumar said police received specific information about the movement of a large consignment of narcotics. A vehicle-checking drive and blockade were subsequently set up on the Majhaulia-Mahna road near Cheilabhar village, where the suspicious SUV was intercepted and searched.“Police received secret information that a large consignment of narcotic substances was being transported. Amar Kumar further said police are investigating the wider trafficking network, including the intended destinations of the contraband and others involved in the supply chain. A case has been registered under the NDPS Act, and further investigation is in progress.
