Belgium captain Youri Tielemans converted a penalty in the fifth minute of stoppage time at the end of extra time on Wednesday (Thursday IST) to help his team book a place in the Round of 16 of the FIFA World Cup 2026.
The penalty, scored in the 124th minute and 44th second of Belgium’s Round of 32 match against Senegal, helped Tielemans enter the history books.
The former Leicester City midfielder’s strike in the 124th minute and 44th second is the latest goal ever scored in a FIFA World Cup match.

Belgium, who had trailed 2-0 with just four minutes of normal time remaining, scored twice in the closing stages to force extra time before sealing the victory with Tielemans’ dramatic late penalty, moments before the match could go to a penalty shootout.
