13-year-old girl blackmailed via Instagram, extorted for cash, jewellery

A 13-year-old Lucknow girl was allegedly trapped through social media, threatened and extorted for money by a youth who exploited her both mentally and physically. The accused has been arrested by police following a complaint by the minor's father in this regard.

According to the complaint, a youth named Aryan sent a friend request to the girl on Instagram. After befriending her, he allegedly deceived and exploited her mentally and physically. The accused also created a fake Instagram ID under the name Itszoya to force the girl into further communication. When the girl confided in her sister, she was abused and even threatened with dire consequences.

The minor's father alleged that Aryan extorted between Rs 45,000 to Rs 50,000 from the minor by repeatedly threatening her, warning that her parents and brother would be killed if the demands were not met.

On August 29, the accused allegedly demanded Rs 50,000 or jewellery for a bike. When the demand went unfulfilled, he showed up at the victim’s home, where he was caught red-handed and handed over to the police.

The Naka Hindola police has confirmed that an FIR has been registered against the accused on the basis of a complaint. Police have arrested the the accused, Aryan Singh, who is now in custody. An investigation has been initiated.
