Ranchi: A 15-day yoga camp aimed at promoting preventive healthcare and healthy living practices began in Ranchi on Saturday as part of the International Yoga Day, which would be observed on June 21.National Health Mission (NHM) (Jharkhand chapter) director Shashi Prakash Jha inaugurated the camp, which was conducted by Archana Kumari under the theme, ‘Yoga Karein, Nirog Rahein’, and attended by over 100 participants.Jha said that lifestyle-related ailments and stress were emerging concerns that required greater emphasis on preventive health practices. “Yoga is an important tool for maintaining physical and mental well-being. The objective is to take the message of healthy living to remote areas and panchayats and encourage people to make yoga a part of their daily routine,” he stated. The initiative seeks to raise awareness about the benefits of regular physical activity and holistic wellness, particularly at a time when non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, hypertension and obesity are becoming more common. It is intended to increase community participation in wellness activities and build awareness about preventive healthcare in both urban and rural areas of Jharkhand, health officials said.Similar yoga sessions would be organised at district hospitals, community health centres (CHCs), primary health centres (PHCs), and ayushman arogya mandirs.
