Pilibhit: Fifteen police personnel, including three sub-inspectors, were suspended in Pilibhit on Thursday for remaining absent from duty for long periods after availing approved casual leave, officials said.
Several of them had been granted leave for two to six days in March this year but did not report back to duty.The suspended sub-inspectors are Dinesh Kumar and Krishna Kumar, both posted in reserve police lines, and Vikas Kumar, posted at Pilibhit Kotwali police station. Police said Dinesh had been absent since May 4, Krishna since May 15 and Vikas since May 24.Others placed under suspension include one head constable, eight constables, one woman constable and two sweepers.
Among them, Lucky Babu, a sweeper posted at Deuria police station, had been absent since March 3, making him the longest absentee on the list.SP Sukirti Madhav said the action was taken to ensure discipline, accountability and dutifulness in the department. “The suspensions were ordered because the personnel remained absent from duty for a long time after availing approved leave,” he said, adding that the concerned circle officers would conduct inquiries against them and submit reports within 15 days, followed by departmental inquiries.
