A major accident occurred on the Pune-Mumbai Expressway on Saturday afternoon after 16 vehicles collided in a chain-reaction crash, leaving several vehicles mangled and one person dead. The incident took place around 3 pm and led to a massive traffic jam on both sides of the expressway.
Initial reports suggest that the accident was caused by brake failure in a speeding container truck. The vehicle lost control and rammed into others, resulting in a multi-vehicle pile-up.

Fire brigade and ambulance services rushed to the scene shortly after the accident. Emergency responders pulled out the injured and sent them to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Traffic movement from Pune to Mumbai and vice versa came to a halt due to the crash. A large number of vehicles were on the road due to the weekend, further worsening the congestion.
Authorities are currently involved in clearing the wreckage and restoring normal traffic flow.
