2 bros electrocuted while repairing hand pump; mother critical

Agra: Two teenage brothers were killed and their mother sustained severe burn injuries after a hand pump pipe they were installing came in contact with a high-tension power line in Nagla Nojhar village under Fariha police station of Firozabad district, police said on Wednesday.Ankit Yadav, 17, and Anshul Yadav, 15, were repairing a hand pump behind their house around 3pm and lowering steel pipes into a borewell when a pipe tilted and touched a nearby high-tension electricity line.“Both the brothers were electrocuted. Their mother, Pinki, 48, rushed to save them, but also suffered electric shock and collapsed,” a police officer said.Residents alerted the local power substation to disconnect supply, while officials from the administration, electricity department and police reached the spot.

The victims were taken to the community health centre, where doctors declared the two brothers dead on arrival. Pinki was referred to the govt trauma centre, where her condition is said to be critical.SDM Rajesh Shukla, electricity department sub-divisional officer Brijesh Kumar, Eka inspector Sanjul Pandey and SHO Rajiv Kumar visited the bereaved family. Angry villagers alleged negligence and demanded action. “The allegations raised by the residents are being examined,” the SDM said, assuring them of all possible assistance.Ankit had recently passed the Class 12 board examination while Anshul was a Class 10 student at a school in Nagla Sukhi village. Their father, Dinesh Yadav, works as a confectioner in Delhi.
