2 dead, 1 injured after motorcycle skids in Tamil Nadu's Sathyamangalam

ERODE: Two men died and another was injured in a self-hit two-wheeler accident near Sathyamangalam in Erode district late on Wednesday night. The incident occurred around 11.15 pm. The deceased have been identified as M Perarasu, 19, and M Rajendran, 29. The injured person is M Guna, 19. Both the deceased were residents of the Amman Koil Pirivu area in Sathyamangalam and worked as coolies. The injured person is from Rajiv Nagar. Police said the two victims and their friend, M Guna, were travelling on a motorcycle bearing registration number TN 36 BU 5161, and all three were under the influence of alcohol.

“The accident occurred when Rajendran, who was riding the vehicle, lost control and the bike skidded on the road,” said Sub-Inspector Vaira Kumar of the Sathyamangalam police station. He added that Perarasu and Rajendran suffered severe head injuries and died on the spot, while Guna sustained multiple fractures. After receiving information, the Sathyamangalam police rushed to the spot. The injured man was taken to the Government Hospital in Sathyamangalam, while the bodies of the two victims were also sent there for postmortem examination.

Guna was given first aid and later referred to the Coimbatore Government Medical College and Hospital for further treatment. Preliminary inquiry revealed that the three men were returning home when they fell off the motorcycle while riding in an inebriated state. Police have registered a case and further investigation is under way.
