New Delhi: Two girls allegedly fought over a 17-year-old boy in southwest Delhi's RK Puram, with the dispute escalating from a confrontation in a park to a blade attack and eventually to late-night arson and firing. The feud began on Feb 22 when one of the girls allegedly spotted her boyfriend with another in a park in RK Puram's Sector 3. Enraged, she confronted the girl and accused her of trying to "take away" her boyfriend. She returned later with her sister and six-seven boys, said police. The group allegedly attacked the other girl, who was still with the boy, with a blade and she suffered a deep cut across her cheek and multiple injuries on some other parts of the body.
She was later treated at Safdarjung Hospital. When the injured girl's brother, a local criminal lodged in Tihar Jail, got to know about the attack, he allegedly asked an associate to retaliate. On Feb 24, seven-eight men on motorcycles began searching the lanes of RK Puram for the other girl. When spotted and chased by them, the girl ran into the narrow lanes of Parvatiya Camp and entered a house.Mistaking it for her home, the group allegedly targeted it. They poured petrol on the gate and parts of the house, and set it ablaze. As flames rose, the attackers fired several rounds before fleeing. Two persons have been arrested and three minors apprehended, including people from both sides, police said.
