2 girls suffer electric shock while wading through rainwater in Navi Mumbai

MUMBAI: Two girls suffered an electric shock while wading through rainwater accumulated beneath a bridge in Navi Mumbai's Nerul area on Wednesday evening and were rushed to hospital, officials said. The incident took place under the Nerul LP Bridge, according to Sachin Kadam, chief of the disaster management cell, according to news agency PTI."Rainwater has accumulated under Nerul LP Bridge. Two girls suffered shock at the spot and have been shifted to the hospital. MSEB, municipal electricity officials and the fire brigade are present at the spot," he added. Kadam said a live wire may have come into contact with the accumulated rainwater, leading to the incident. Following the incident, officials from the Maharashtra State Electricity Board (MSEB), the municipal corporation and the fire brigade reached the spot and initiated an inspection. Navi Mumbai has been witnessing heavy rainfall since Tuesday night, resulting in waterlogging in several low-lying areas across the city.
