Delhi Police Special Cell and Maharashtra ATS arrested two radicalised suspects in Mumbai, alleging links to Jaish-e-Mohammed and Islamic State. They were allegedly planning a toy car bomb attack in Delhi.
In a joint operation, the Delhi Police Special Cell and the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) have arrested two suspects from Mumbai for allegedly plotting a terror attack in the national capital.
The accused, identified as Mossab Ahdam alias Kalam Kalyan and Mohammad Hamad Kollara (both Mumbai residents), have been brought to Delhi for further interrogation.
According to investigators, both men were highly radicalised and had alleged links with multiple terror organisations, including Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Islamic State. Police sources said the suspects were also associated with online extremist networks such as “Mission Khilafat” and “Soldiers of Prophet”.
Officials said the duo had allegedly been “brainwashed” through online handlers and were in contact with an individual identified as Abu Hufezah, who is believed to be linked to JeM and involved in online recruitment activities.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the accused were learning how to assemble improvised explosive devices and were allegedly planning to carry out an attack in Delhi using a bomb concealed inside a toy car.
Investigators are also probing possible links to a wider pan-India module. Sources indicated that four to five minors in Mumbai, suspected to have been influenced by ISIS propaganda, have come under the radar of the Special Cell. Authorities are currently assessing the appropriate course of action in those cases.
Police said sustained interrogation of the arrested suspects is underway to establish the full extent of the network, funding channels, and potential targets.
