In a heart-wrenching incident in Gopalganj, a school bus—driven by the owner's brother without consent—collided with a hut, tragically claiming the lives of two young boys, Arish and Intaz, aged four and two. The bus was parked after dropping off students when the unauthorized driver lost his grip on the vehicle.
Patna: Two children were killed and a woman was injured after a private school bus ran over them while they were sleeping in their hut at Dumaria village under Gopalpur police station area in Gopalganj district on Friday.The bus was not carrying schoolchildren at the time of the accident. The driver had parked the vehicle in the village, and in his absence, his elder brother started driving it, which led to the accident.The deceased children were identified as Arish (4), son of Zahiruddin, and Intaz (2), son of Mumtaz. Both were cousins. The injured woman was rushed to a local hospital, where she is undergoing treatment.On receiving information about the incident, personnel from Gopalpur police station reached the spot and sent the bodies to Sadar Hospital, Gopalganj, for postmortem.
Taking swift action, the bus driver was taken into custody for interrogation.According to a statement issued by the police, “After dropping children at a school located in Jamunaha locality under Kateya police station area, the bus driver, Abbas, parked the bus near his house in Dumaria village and went to have breakfast. Meanwhile, his brother, Safaruddin, took the bus keys and attempted to drive it. The bus then went out of control and crashed into the hut, killing both the children.”The fathers of both the children are construction workers.
