A 16-year-old girl and her uncle died, while three others were critically injured after a speeding car hit a motorcycle and two bicycles before overturning in Mainpuri.

A 16-year-old girl and her uncle died, while three others sustained critical injuries after a speeding car hit a motorcycle and two bicycles before overturning into a roadside ditch in Uttar Pradesh’s Mainpuri district, police said on Friday.

The accident occurred on Thursday evening near Harichandpur village under the Kishni police station limits.

According to Superintendent of Police (City) Arun Kumar Singh, Swadesh Pal (50), a resident of Bhitara village, was travelling on a motorcycle with his 16-year-old niece, Lavli Pal, when the driver of the speeding car, identified as Vinod, lost control while negotiating a bend and rammed into their motorcycle.

After hitting the motorcycle, the car also struck two bicycles before overturning into a roadside ditch. The crash left Diwari Lal (40), a resident of Harichandpur, and Anand (30) of Kuraoli critically injured. Another person also sustained injuries in the incident.

Hearing the impact, villagers rushed to the spot and alerted the police. The injured were taken to the Community Health Centre in Kishni, where doctors declared Swadesh Pal and Lavli Pal dead.

After receiving initial treatment, the three injured were referred to Saifai Medical College as their condition remained critical.

Inspector Chatrapal Singh said the car involved in the accident had been seized and further investigation into the incident was underway.
