2 killed as SUV hits scooter on Bijnor highway

Bijnor: Two men died after a speeding SUV hit a scooter in Nagina area of Bijnor district around 10:30am on Wednesday. Vijaypal Singh, 68, and Mahavir Singh Chauhan, 67, residents of Saket Vihar Colony in Dhampur, were returning to Dhampur from Sarai Puraini village under Nagina police station.

Police said the two were crossing the Haridwar–Kashipur four-lane highway on their scooter when the incident took place.The two were taken to Nagina community health centre, where doctors declared them dead. Bijnor SP Akhilesh Jha said, “Both the vehicles were severely damaged in the collision. Police have seized the SUV and launched an investigation. Legal proceedings are underway.”
