A two-year-old child died in Kozhikode, Kerala, after reportedly showing signs of uneasiness during a circumcision procedure at a hospital. The child’s family informed the police that the discomfort may have started following the administration of anaesthesia.
The child was a premature baby who was born at the eighth month of pregnancy. It was only one month and 27 days old when it was taken for the circumcision procedure.
According to a police complaint, the baby boy was taken to Kakkoor Cooperative Clinic for a circumcision procedure on Sunday. However, after the administration of anaesthesia, he experienced uneasiness and was shifted to a private hospital.
Despite best efforts, the baby could not survive and died on Sunday afternoon. The police in Kozhikode has registered a case for unnatural death under Section 194 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The post-mortem will be conducted today to establish the exact cause of death. The case is under investigation by the police.
Last month, a one-year-old boy from Kerala’s Malappuram died of jaundice, and the parents registered a case of unnatural death, as per reports.
