AGRA: In an act of bravery, two teenage sisters lost their lives after diving into the Ganga river to save their 12-year-old brother from drowning in Uttar Pradesh's Kasganj district.The tragic incident occurred around 7:30 am on Thursday when Saloni Kashyap (16) and her sister Komal (14), residents of Muzaffarnagar village, went to the riverbank with their younger brother, Shivnesh. According to Sunnagarhi SHO Pawan Kumar, the boy accidentally drifted into deep water and began to drown.Without a thought for their own safety, both sisters plunged into the swift current. While they successfully managed to push Shivnesh to the shore, the powerful current swept them downstream before nearby bystanders could intervene.Local divers launched a rescue operation immediately. Komal was pulled from the water within 20 minutes but was declared dead upon arrival at a local community health centre. Saloni's body was recovered three hours later, approximately one kilometre downstream.The sisters were the daughters of Indrapal Kashyap, a local primary school educator. Saloni had been preparing to pursue a nursing career, while Komal had just cleared her Class 10 board examinations.Kasganj DSP Durgesh Kumar Mishra confirmed that the local police handed over the dead bodies to the grieving family on Friday after conducting post mortem examinations.
