20 hurt as Bengaluru-bound APSRTC bus rams parked truck near Chintamani

Twenty persons from Nellore and Markapuram districts were reportedly injured in the bus accident at Chintamani near Bengaluru early on Sunday.

With forty passengers on board, the Bengaluru-bound APSRTC bus (AP40Z 0142) belonging to Udayagiri depot started its journey from Pamuru in Markapuram district on Saturday night. After entering Karnataka, the bus rammed into a truck parked on the roadside near Chintamani around 3.30 am.

While no casualties were reported, 20 passengers sustained injuries in the accident, ten of them seriously hurt.

Police rushed to the spot, cleared the bus from the spot to restore traffic and shifted the injured passengers to a local hospital. The front portion of the bus was completely damaged and resembled a mangled mass of metal.
