230 kg of gutkha seized, two held in Villupuram

The police seized 230 kg of gutkha and banned tobacco products, which was being smuggled in a car, and arrested two persons at Janakipuram near Villupuram on Sunday.

Following a tip-off, a team was conducting vehicle checks at the Janakipuram bypass when they intercepted a car proceeding from Bengaluru to Puducherry. After a search, the police personnel found 230 kg of gutkha packed in gunny bags in the vehicle and seized them.

The team arrested Mahesh Kumar, 28 of Rajasthan and Bharath, 36 of Bengaluru. A case has been registered.
