While no suicide note was recovered, investigators found a video clip of more than three minutes on her mobile phone alleging ill-treatment by her husband's family
NEW DELHI: A 24-year-old woman died by suicide at her matrimonial home in Delhi's Nangloi area on Tuesday after allegedly recording a video in which she accused her in-laws of harassment and detailed the circumstances that led to her decision, police said on Wednesday.The woman, identified as Tina, was found hanging from a ceiling fan at her in-laws' residence on Tuesday afternoon. Police rushed to the scene after receiving information about the incident and subsequently sent the body for a post-mortem examination.While no suicide note was recovered, investigators found a video clip of more than three minutes on her mobile phone. In the recording, Tina addressed her parents, husband and other family members, speaking about the difficulties she claimed to have faced in her marital home.According to police sources, she alleged ill-treatment by her husband's family and described her husband as unstable. She also said she was unable to continue living with him.In the video, Tina can be heard telling her father that she was "leaving". She appealed to her parents not to quarrel over her death and asked them to look after her one-and-a-half-year-old daughter. She further expressed that she did not want the child to be handed over to anyone else, including her husband.
"I only wanted a small family. I never practised any black magic," she said in the recording, while also making allegations against her husband's family.Police said a case has been registered on the basis of statements recorded before the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), and further investigation is underway.Tina had been married for around two-and-a-half years and lived in Nangloi with her husband, who works in the private sector. The couple had a one-and-a-half-year-old daughter.Authorities are examining the allegations made in the video as part of the ongoing investigation. No arrests have been reported so far.
