25-year-old woman found dead in hotel swimming pool after party in Puri

BHUBANESWAR: A 25-year-old woman was found dead in the swimming pool of a hotel in Odisha's Puri, police said on Tuesday.The deceased has been identified as Sumitra Mohapatra, a resident of Goudabada Sahi in Puri.According to preliminary information, Sumitra had gone to the hotel to perform dance and music at a party before her body was discovered in the swimming pool.Her family has alleged foul play, claiming that she was murdered after attending the event. They have demanded a thorough investigation and urged authorities to identify those responsible.Police reached the hotel after receiving information about the incident and recovered the body, which has been sent for a post-mortem examination.Police have ruled out foul play. "We reviewed the CCTV footage of the hotel, which showed no suspicious activity. The evidence suggests she drowned. We are now awaiting the post-mortem report," said Manas Chakra, IIC of Sea Beach police station.
