Ahmedabad: Doctors at GCS Hospital successfully removed a giant 26.5cm x 20cm soft tissue tumour from the thigh of a 33-year-old patient, preserving critical nerves essential for walking and foot movement.The patient had noticed the growth over the past four years, which eventually caused escalating pain and severe mobility issues. According to hospital officials, the surgery was highly complex and critical to restoring the patient’s mobility. Medical experts noted that giant tumours wrapped around major nerves at this specific anatomical site are exceptionally rare in medical literature.Following the successful surgical intervention, the patient is currently on the path to recovery and has regained leg functionality. The challenging procedure highlights the advancement in limb-salvage oncological surgeries.
