BAREILLY: Three people were killed on the Delhi-Lucknow National Highway in Miranpur Katra area of Shahjahanpur on Thursday night when a fuel tanker ran over a group of people who were arguing on the road after a bike brushed against their car.
Four others were seriously injured in the incident. Among the dead, two were from Barabanki district and one from Rampur. Police said five out of six people in a car were standing by the roadside and talking to two men on a bike when a speeding fuel tanker hit them.All were initially admitted to a community health centre (CHC) with serious injuries where doctors declared car passengers Yogesh Kumar Kuril (55) and Vivek Mishra (35), and biker Mubassir Ali (40) dead.
The car was on its way to Nainital when the accident happened, said police, who have now seized the car, tanker and bike.Additional SP (rural) Bhaware Diksha Arun said, "We are yet to find out the cause of the quarrel among them, as all were hit by the truck."Police filed an FIR under relevant sections against the truck driver, and action to nab him was underway, Arun said.
