3 females missing from Ludhiana home, traced to Haridwar

Ludhiana: Panic gripped residents of Gagan Vihar in Haibowal after a 28-year-old woman, her three-year-old daughter and her 15-year-old sister-in-law went missing from their home on June 27.Police said the trio has been traced to Haridwar in Uttarakhand and a team has been dispatched to bring them back and ascertain the circumstances under which they left.Based on a complaint by Suman Pandey, the woman’s mother-in-law, Haibowal police registered an FIR against an unidentified person under charges related to wrongful confinement.Police said Mamta, who married Suman’s son around four years ago, left home along with her toddler daughter and minor sister-in-law.

When they did not return, family members launched a search and later approached the police.Investigators said the family suspected that Mamta was in contact with a man and feared he might have taken her away. During the probe, police gathered evidence suggesting that Mamta had travelled with a female relative of a male acquaintance. The trio is believed to have boarded a train from Ludhiana to Uttarakhand.Haibowal SHO inspector Kulwant Kaur said, “The location of the missing woman and the two girls has been traced to Haridwar. A police team is on its way there. Further facts will emerge once their statements are recorded.”The disappearance of three females from the same household, including a minor and a toddler, triggered concern among local residents and prompted a swift police response.
