Dehradun: Three men were arrested near Thano Road on Sunday in connection with a firing incident outside a liquor shop in Dehradun’s Nehru Colony on Friday night. Police said the shootout stemmed from an old dispute between two men from Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh.Dehradun SP (Rural) Jaya Baluni said one of the two injured individuals, Kamendra Sharma, told police that he had an ongoing dispute with Akshay Pradhan, a resident of Bijnor. “The dispute began during a wedding in Bijnor a few months ago. Since then, the two men had been exchanging threats. A few days ago, Sharma’s friend in Noida told him that Pradhan had called, abused him, and threatened him with dire consequences.
On Friday, after learning that Pradhan was near the liquor shop, Sharma went there with his friends to confront him,” Baluni said.Police stated that Pradhan and the three arrested men then fired two rounds from a pistol. One bullet hit Sharma, while the other struck a bystander standing near the liquor shop.The arrested men have been identified as Arun Kumar (27), Sunny Kumar (27), and Adarsh Singh (19). All three are residents of Bijnor and were staying in Dehradun’s Raipur area. “An FIR on the charge of attempt to murder had already been registered against the four. Three of the accused have now been arrested, while the main accused, Pradhan, is absconding. Efforts are underway to nab him,” Baluni added.
