3 killed after house collapses in landslip

MANGALURU: Three persons, including two young girls, were killed after a landslip crushed a tiled-roof house at Nagori in Kankanady in the early hours of Wednesday.According to rescue officials, six people were trapped under the debris after the landslip.

Rescue teams managed to pull out a man and two girls alive, while a woman and two girls succumbed to their injuries.Personnel from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), the Fire and Emergency Services Department, and the police carried out the rescue operation.The incident occurred amid heavy rainfall in the region, which is suspected to have triggered the landslide. Deputy Commissioner Darshan HV visited the spot to oversee the rescue and relief operations.
