Indore: A 30-year-old tribal woman was allegedly raped by a man after a group of three intruders entered a field in Badnagar area of Ujjain district to steal windmill cables and assaulted the family guarding the site.“The woman claimed that one of the men who had come to steal windmill cables raped her. The family had come to Badnagar from Dhar a week ago. Based on the complaint, a case was registered. The woman’s statements were recorded in front of a magistrate on Saturday. All angles are being investigated,” Ujjain SP Pradeep Sharma said .The SP added that a medical examination of the woman and her husband was also conducted in which no injuries were found.The woman told police that the incident took place around midnight on June 18 when she, her husband and their son were asleep in a makeshift hut in the field where the couple worked as watchkeepers.The men allegedly woke up the family, dragged the husband outside and assaulted him while some members of the group stole cables from a nearby windmill installation.The woman told police that after the theft, one of the accused came inside and threatened to kill her son and took her to a bush nearby where he sexually assaulted her.
The family alleged that they were threatened during the incident.The family later approached Badnagar police, following which a case was registered against the accused. ASP Karandeep Singh said the three men had come to the area with the intention of stealing windmill wires. Teams have been formed to identify and trace the suspects.
