307 people evacuated from Hyderabad’s low-lying areas as water gushes from Himayatsagar

Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) disaster response teams have evacuated 307 persons from low-lying areas in Malakpet, Rajendranagar, and Goshamahal due to increase in water levels after the Himayatsagar Reservoir gates were lifted on Thursday ( August 14, 2025).

Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board issued flood warnings on Thursday morning before releasing more water. At the end of the day, six gates were operated to let out 7,822 Cusecs of water. According to a fresh update from the Board issued on Friday morning, four gates were open and outflow was 5,215 Cusecs.
