Varanasi: With the construction of the Rs 315 crore, 500-bed multi-super-specialty hospital set to begin at Shri Shiv Prasad Gupta (SSPG) Divisional Hospital, authorities on Sunday held detailed discussions to ensure that patient care remains unaffected during the demolition of old hospital buildings and subsequent construction work. The meeting focused on relocating existing medical services and facilities to safe and accessible locations so that healthcare delivery continues uninterrupted while work on the new hospital progresses. SSPG Chief Superintendent Dr Brijesh Kumar and representatives of the construction agency gave a presentation to City South MLA Neelkanth Tiwari and District Magistrate Satyendra Kumar on the phased relocation plan for departments and services housed in buildings slated for demolition in the initial stages.Tiwari directed the construction agency to complete the project within the stipulated timeframe while maintaining high construction standards. Stressing the need for strict adherence to safety norms, he called for regular reviews of the project’s progress to prevent any lapse at any level. The meeting was also attended by Chief Medical Officer Dr Mukesh Kumar, PWD Executive Engineer Pushpraj Singh and other senior officials.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had laid the foundation stone of the project during his visit to Varanasi on April 28. Popularly known as Kabirchaura Hospital, SSPG is being upgraded with world-class medical infrastructure to serve patients across Purvanchal and eastern Uttar Pradesh.Under the project, old and dilapidated hospital structures will be replaced with a modern multi-storey medical facility. The plan includes a main hospital building with a basement and eight floors, along with a separate 14-storey tower for doctors’ and staff accommodation. The hospital will offer specialised services in cardiology, neurology and neurosurgery, nephrology, urology, gastroenterology, plastic surgery and dialysis. It will also feature 47 ICU beds, modular operation theatres and advanced laboratory facilities.
