Solar panels installed on residential rooftops in Bihar, India, highlight the growing adoption of renewable energy and rooftop solar power in the region.
Ahmedabad: Pandit Deendayal Energy University (PDEU) on Monday launched Rooftop Solar Training Academy to strengthen the green workforce. The initiative started with a batch of 33 women from the state who will work closely with the renewable energy sector.Prof S Sundar Manoharan, director general of PDEU, said that the Indo-Australia Rooftop Solar Academy, envisioned by the Prime Ministers of India and Australia during their meeting in Nov 2024.“It is established at PDEU as a flagship initiative reflecting the growing strategic partnership between the two countries in renewable energy, clean technology, and workforce development. This academy is supported by the Australian govt’s department of climate change, energy, the environment and water, and developed in collaboration with ReNew and the Skill Council for Green Jobs under the ministry of skill development and entrepreneurship,” he said.The women trained here will help in rooftop solar installation, operations, and maintenance. The director general added that a key highlight is certification of MSDE. “The next batch will consist of students from industrial training institutes,” he added.
