39 sovereigns of gold jewellery missing from lawyer’s house

Gold jewellery weighing 39 sovereigns and silver objects were found missing from the house of an advocate at Devasthanam village near Vaniyambadi town in Tirupattur on Wednesday.

Police said V. Shanmuga Ganesan, a prominent advocate, was living with his family, including children, in the village.

Initial inquiry revealed that Mr. Ganesan was planning to attend a function in the area. He and his family members used to store a portion of gold jewellery in the puja room of the house.

When he searched for a few gold jewellery to wear for the event, Mr. Ganesan found 39 sovereigns of gold jewellery and a few silver articles missing from the puja room.

Subsequently, he lodged a complaint with the Vaniyambadi Taluk police. The police are analysing the CCTV footage on the route.
