4 Jharkhand natives held for assaulting police constables

Margao: Four persons were arrested following an assault on two police constables at Sunset Point near Parul University in Canaginium, Betul, on Saturday evening.Police said that constables Sairaj Naik and Anup Kavrekar of Cuncolim police station were conducting their lawful duties when the accused persons formed an unlawful assembly carrying stones and attacked the police personnel.

Kavrekar sustained injuries to his head and other parts of his body after being struck by stones. Naik was also assaulted with fist blows and kicks.Those arrested have been identified as Jebiyar Dung Dung from Varca; Suresh Hariya, Rahul Kisan, and Amit Lohra, all residents of Betul and all four natives of Jharkhand.The hunt continues for two more accused, police said. They have been charged under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for unlawful assembly, assault on public servants, and attempt to murder.
