A 25-year-old newlywed woman was found dead under suspicious circumstances at her rented house in RH Colony in Andhra Pradesh’s Visakhapatnam on Wednesday, prompting an investigation by police.

The victim was identified as Andhrapu Krishnaveni, who had married Andhrapu Murali, her close relative and a native of Mentada in Vizianagaram district, on May 13, 2026.

According to preliminary information, the couple had been living in a rented house in PM Palem area for around 20 days after their marriage.

Murali is employed at a private company, while Krishnaveni was working at a shop in the Gopalapatnam area.

Police said Murali returned home from duty on Wednesday morning and found Krishnaveni hanging from a ceiling fan. He immediately alerted local authorities.

Senior police officials, including ACP Appalaraju and Circle Inspector Balakrishna, visited the location and conducted a preliminary inquiry. Evidence and details from the scene were collected as part of the investigation.

Krishnaveni’s body was shifted to a hospital for postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.

Police stated that the circumstances leading to the incident remain unclear at this stage.

A case has been registered as a suspicious death, and further investigation is underway to establish whether any external factors contributed to the incident.

Officials said more details are expected after the postmortem report and further inquiry.
