Victor Wembanyama scored a historic 40 points in 26 minutes as San Antonio Spurs crushed the Lakers 136-108.

Victor Wembanyama didn’t just beat the Lakers on Tuesday night — he completely ripped them a new one.
With Los Angeles missing LeBron James, Luka Doncic, Austin Reaves and Marcus Smart, the San Antonio Spurs ran riot in a 136-108 demolition.
And Wemby? He was unplayable.
The French phenom matched his season high with 40 points in just 26 minutes, adding 12 rebounds, two steals and a block while shooting a ruthless 13-of-20 from the field.
He set the tone early — explosively.
Wembanyama poured in 25 points in the first quarter, the most ever scored by a Spurs player in any quarter in the play-by-play era (since 1997-98).
At one point, from 11:08 to 6:15 in the opening frame, he rattled off 21 points in under five minutes — becoming just the 16th player this century to do so.
By halftime, he had 37 points, the most by any player in a first half this season and the most by a Spur in a half since 1997-98. The Spurs led 84-55 at the break. Game over.
He cooled slightly in the third, then sat the fourth as San Antonio’s starters watched the rout finish itself.
The numbers get even wilder.
Wembanyama is now the only player in NBA history to record at least 40 points and 12 rebounds in 26 or fewer minutes. He already has six 40-point games in his young career — one more than Tim Duncan — despite playing 1,236 fewer games.
The Lakers, meanwhile, were simply undermanned. Doncic missed a third straight game with a hamstring strain, while James sat out the second night of a back-to-back to manage foot arthritis.
The only blemish for San Antonio was a pelvic contusion suffered by 2025 Rookie of the Year Stephon Castle after a hard second-quarter fall.
