Aizawl: Forty-three cadres of the underground Hmar People’s Convention – Democratic (HPC-D), the Lalhmingthanga Sanate faction, have surrendered their arms at a ‘home coming and laying down of arms’ ceremony held at the Central Training Institute ground in Sesawng village on Thursday.With this development, Mizoram no longer has any active underground ethnic insurgent groups.Addressing the event, CM Lalduhoma observed that discussions on peace in Mizoram have long been intertwined with the issue of HPC (D). He reiterated that the govt has consistently remained open to dialogue and commended the home minister and his team for their tireless efforts in achieving this breakthrough. He affirmed that Mizoram can now confidently be described as a truly peaceful state.Emphasising unity, he said there are no divisions within the Mizo community, and that all share a common identity as Mizo. Any attempt to create divisions, he asserted, will not succeed. He called upon all sections of society to stand united and move forward together.Reflecting on the value of peace, the CM said peace is hard-earned and demands sacrifice. He expressed deep appreciation for the courage shown by those who have laid down arms, describing their decision as an act of true bravery. He urged citizens to reject any ideology, policy, or action that could give rise to unrest or conflict, and to work collectively towards sustaining peace and stability in the state.
