District Medical Officer (DMO) K.T. Rekha said 88% of the eligible children in the district were covered on the first day of the campaign.

Dr. Rekha said children who could not receive the vaccine on the first day would be administered polio drops on Monday (June 29, 2026) and Tuesday (June 30, 2026). Parents have been urged to contact the nearest health workers to ensure that their children receive the vaccine, the DMO added.

The district-level inauguration of the National Pulse Polio Immunisation campaign was held at Padinjarathara bus stand premises. The programme was launched by Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, MP, who administered the first polio drops.

These included 523 booths at health centres and anganwadis, 23 transit booths at bus stands and tourist destinations, and 15 mobile booths to vaccinate children at migrant workers’ settlements, remote areas, and other public places.
