5,230 camps held so far in the State under nation-wide campaign for saturation of Financial Inclusion  schemes

N. Vijaya, General Manager of the Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) and Convenor of the State Level Bankers’ Committee, on Monday said 5,230 camps had been organised so far in Tamil Nadu as a part of the nationwide campaign launched by the Department of Financial Services for the saturation of financial inclusion schemes at the gram panchayat and urban local body (ULB) level.

According to the instructions of the Department of Financial Services, under the Union Finance Ministry, all banks in the State have to conduct camps from July 1 to September 2025, she said addressing the media in Chennai.

There are 12,525 gram panchayats in Tamil Nadu. The camps will cover activities such as Re-KYC of all saving bank account holders (wherever due), opening of bank accounts for unbanked adults under the Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana  (PMJDY), enrolments under the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) and the Atal Pension Yojna (APY), awareness sessions on digital fraud prevention, ways to access unclaimed deposits and redressing grievances, and the facility to update nominations in accounts (wherever pending), Ms. Vijaya added.

So far, through the camps, Re-KYC has been done for 47,499 accounts under the PMJDY and 60,853 other accounts. Nominations have been updated for 34,408 PMJDY accounts and 33,247 other accounts, besides enrollment being carried out for other schemes, she said.
