After 48 matches in the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2026, five teams have been knocked out from the race to make it to the next round.
We are through 48 matches of the FIFA World Cup 2026 and of the 48 teams that are taking part in what is the biggest ever edition of the global tournament, as many as five have already been shown the exit door. Of the 12 groups, 7 teams have already punched their tickets to make it past the group-stage and into the round of 32. The top two teams from each of the 12 groups plus eight best third-placed teams will qualify for the second round.

Having qualified for their second ever FIFA World Cup, Haiti have been eliminated following defeats to Scotland (0-1) and Brazil (0-3). They are yet to score a goal and next face Morocco in their final group fixture. (AP Photo)

Turkey's early exit came as a surprise. They were first stunned 2-0 by Australia and then conceded a early goal to Paraguay that proved enough for them to be knocked out. They will now hope for a consolation win when they take on tournament co-hosts USA. (AP Photo)

Tunisia began their campaign with a heavy defeat to Sweden. The 1-5 thrashing resulted in them sacking Sabri Lamouchi before Herve Renard took over. Little changed as they were next humbled by Japan 0-4 to be knocked out. (AP Photo)

Jordan weren't expected to make it out from their Group J that also features defending champions Argentina, Austria and Algeria. The world cup debutants lost to Austria 1-3 before giving up 1-0 lead vs Algeria to lose 1-2 and be eliminated. Their final group fixture is with Argentina. (AP Photo)

Panama lost to Ghana 0-1 in their world cup opener before losing to Croatia by the same goal-margin to suffer an early exit. They next face England. This is the second time in their history that Panama have made it to the FIFA World Cup with their last appearance in 2024. (AP Photo)
