A 5-year-old girl was killed after being run over by a school van in Bengaluru's Dasanapura. Police have launched an investigation into the fatal accident.

A five-year-old girl was killed after she was run over by a school van in Bengaluru on Wednesday evening. The incident happened at Dasanapura village in Bengaluru North taluk, while the girl had accompanied her mother to pick up her elder sibling from school.

According to the details, the girl was killed after the van ran over her outside her sister’s school.

The deceased was identified as Tanisha, who was just days away from celebrating her birthday next week.

Information revealed that Tanisha was waiting with her mother outside the school when the school van allegedly approached at speed.

She came in front of the vehicle and was run over, suffering fatal injuries.

She had accompanied her mother to pick up her seven-year-old sister, Kanika, after school.

The incident prompted a police investigation, and efforts are on to determine the exact circumstances that led to the accident and whether negligence was involved.

Meanwhile, the police said the van allegedly approached at a high speed. During the commotion, Tanisha reportedly came in front of the moving vehicle and was run over.

She died on the spot before any medical assistance could reach her.

The tragedy has left Tanisha’s family in deep shock. Family members said the five-year-old had been eagerly looking forward to celebrating her birthday next Friday.

What was expected to be a week of celebration has instead turned into mourning, with relatives struggling to come to terms with the sudden loss of the young child.

Meanwhile, Tanisha’s body was shifted to the Nelamangala Government Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

Police personnel from the Chikkabanavara Traffic Police Station reached the spot soon after receiving information about the accident. Officials inspected the scene and have launched an investigation into the case.
