BENGALURU: Fifty passengers from Karnataka who were stranded in the Gulf region amid the ongoing West Asia conflict arrived in New Delhi early Friday after departing from Fujairah in the UAE, the office of chief minister Siddaramaiah said. The Karnataka govt’s protocol team was present at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi and arranged breakfast for the passengers, the CM’s office said. The travellers were then transported on a Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) bus and two cars to domestic terminals for their onward journeys to Bengaluru, Mangaluru and Hubballi, according to a statement from the CM’s office. Many passengers were disgruntled and complained to the team that the ministry of external affairs (MEA) had done nothing and that a local organisation had helped them with flight tickets and other arrangements, the statement claimed. “Incidentally, we are the only state so far that is providing this assistance at the Delhi airport,” it added.
