The police on Friday booked 55 history-sheeters and bound them over in Sri Sathya Sai district, considering their behaviour last month, and secured bonds of ₹5 lakh from each of them.
Superintendent of Police S. Satish Kumar told the media that the police conducted counselling for four youths, among the rowdy-sheeters, from Kadiri town, and effected the bind-over proceedings against them for a year, in connection with the charges of provoking a personal matter into a group clash.
The accused were identified as Shaik Nawaz, Shaik Ghouse Basha, Mohammed Maj, and Shaik Faizan. The SP said that those who have been bound over would face serious consequences if they resort to committing offences, including forfeiture of the bond amount and up to one month imprisonment. Such cases could also impact passport clearances and employment-related police verifications.
The SP said 325 persons were bound over last year as part of the preventive policing measures.
Meanwhile, surveillance has been intensified in Dharmavaram and Bukkarayasamudram mandals using night-vision drones.
Special teams monitored suspicious movement, open drinking, and other anti-social activities at vulnerable locations. The SP said regular drone-based monitoring was effective in deterring crime and improving public safety. He appealed to the public to report any suspicious activity to the police.
