63-yr-old Briton dies at Candolim

Calangute: A 63-year-old British national was declared brought dead at the Candolim primary health centre (PHC) in the early hours of Dec 15. Calangute police said they received a call at around 1.43am from the health officer of the Candolim PHC stating that Barry Mark Gerrard, who was residing at a beach resort in Vaddy, Candolim, was brought dead to the health centre.Following this, police visited the PHC and were informed by Barry’s brother Paul Mattias Gerrard, 67, that the deceased had been suffering from emphysema (a lung illness). Paul is also staying at the same resort.This is the third death of a Briton reported at Candolim this month. On Dec 3, Ian William Griffith, 54, was declared brought dead at the Candolim PHC. Griffith had arrived in Goa three days earlier and was staying at a resort in Dando. On Dec 2, Stephen Patrick Pattison, 66, had collapsed and died on Candolim beach. Doctors at the Candolim PHC said he was brought dead by Drishti Marine lifesavers. Pattison had been staying in a guest house at Vaddy.
