BIJNOR: A seven-year-old boy died during treatment in Meerut after a 14-year-old boy allegedly injected him with an oxytocin shot used for livestock. The incident happened after the 14-year-old was accused of assaulting the seven-year-old boy’s elder sister.According to a police complaint filed by the boy’s father, the issue was triggered when his 13-year-old daughter was returning home from a madrassa in Bijnor on June 25 and was allegedly assaulted by the 14-year-old boy. His wife and their seven-year-old son soon reached the place to intervene. The family alleged that the accused — in order to take “revenge” after being accused of the assault — dragged their son to his house and injected him with the oxytocin syringe on the evening of June 26.
Oxytocin is commonly used on livestock in rural areas.According to family members, the child showed no symptoms of immediate health issues. However, he started suffering from severe body cramps the next day.He was first treated by private doctors and was then admitted to Bijnor Medical College. As his condition worsened, he was shifted to a hospital in Meerut, where he died on Saturday night.Circle officer Abhay Kumar Pandey said, “The exact cause of death will be determined once we get the postmortem report.”
