Police have arrested Siya Goyal, 20, and her alleged lover, Chetan Chaudhary, 22, in connection with the murder of Ketan Agarwal.

New details have emerged in the murder case of Pune businessman Ketan Agarwal, revealing that the relationship between him and his fiancée Siya Goyal appeared affectionate until shortly before his death.

Police have arrested Siya Goyal, 20, and her alleged lover, Chetan Chaudhary, 22, in connection with the murder.

Videos and social media posts from the days leading up to the incident show Agarwal organising elaborate birthday celebrations for Goyal and making preparations for their upcoming wedding.

Month-long birthday planning

According to family members, Agarwal spent nearly a month planning celebrations for Goyal’s 20th birthday, which was due on June 19, a day after his death.

Videos show Ketan surprising Siya with a bouquet inside a luxury convertible decorated with flowers. In the footage, Goyal is seen embracing him after receiving the surprise. Other clips show the couple driving together and posing for photographs.

The celebrations also included a dinner outing where Agarwal went down on one knee before presenting Goyal with a gift. Friends and family members can be heard cheering during the event.

The videos, which have circulated widely on social media since the arrests, capture some of the couple’s final public moments together. Family members said Agarwal had also booked around 40 rooms at a luxury resort in Mahabaleshwar for Goyal’s birthday celebrations.

Wedding preparations underway

The couple got engaged in February and were scheduled to marry in November.

According to family members, preparations for the wedding had already begun. Their families had booked a palace in Udaipur for the ceremony, while arrangements for pre-wedding events were also underway.

Instagram tribute after death

Following Agarwal’s death on June 18, Goyal shared an emotional tribute to him on Instagram.

At that time, the case was being treated as an accidental death after she told police that Agarwal had slipped while taking photographs near the edge of Lohagad Fort near Lonavala.

In her post, Goyal wrote: “You left me on my birthday. You left when we were so close to getting married. I still can’t understand why you did this to me. I had dreams, questions I’ll never get answers to. Why did you leave me when I loved you so much? Rest in peace."

The post also carried a Hindi caption that read: “Mere dil ko pata hai ki tu yahi hai. Wapas aaja" (My heart knows that you are here. Come back.)

The tribute has drawn attention after police alleged that Goyal and Chaudhary conspired to kill Agarwal and later confessed to the crime.

Investigation takes a turn

Agarwal, a director in his family’s real estate business, died after falling nearly 400 feet into a gorge at Lohagad Fort on June 18.

The investigation later changed direction after police examined call records, CCTV footage and digital evidence.

Investigators have alleged that Goyal and Chaudhary, who had reportedly been in a relationship for more than a year, viewed Agarwal as an obstacle to their future together and conspired to kill him.

Police have said both accused confessed during questioning. Investigators also alleged that an earlier attempt to kill Agarwal at the same fort on June 14 had failed.

Agarwal’s father, Vishal Agarwal, said his son had previously expressed concerns about Goyal’s behaviour and had questioned her relationship with Chaudhary.

The two accused have been booked under provisions related to murder and criminal conspiracy of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and remain in police custody while the investigation continues.
