Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Harshitha Manikanta, attached to the Railways wing of the Andhra Pradesh Police, has scaled Mount Elbrus, the tallest peak of Europe. The 5,642-metre-high mountain is in the Caucasus range along the Russia–Georgia border.
Ms. Harshitha achieved the challenging feat on Friday and unfurled the Tricolour atop the peak.
Ms. Harshitha, who is married to Chittoor Superintendent of Police Manikantha Chandolu, faced freezing temperatures and challenging slopes during the climb.
Home Minister V. Anita congratulated the DSP on the social media platform ‘X’, terming the feat as a testament to the discipline and perseverance of the State police force.
Mount Elbrus is among the prominent peaks pursued as part of the Seven Summits challenge, an international mountaineering pursuit. Ms. Harshitha had trained extensively for the expedition while continuing her official duties, demonstrating a balance of preparation and commitment.
