A.P.’s first international-standard boxing ring opens in Tirupati

Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) opened the State’s first international-standard boxing ring at Srinivasa Sports Complex here on Monday.

SAAP Chairman A. Ravi Naidu, who inaugurated the indoor boxing hall developed with the support of Junior Chamber International (JCI), inspected the infrastructure and training facilities available for the sportspersons, the ring and training area, safety standards adopted, among others.

He called it not just a practice area, but a training facility to unearth the hidden talent in aspiring sportspersons. “Irrespective of the climatic conditions, the players can undergo training throughout the year and practice for upcoming sporting events at this boxing hall,” he said.

The facility will be used to create a talent pool of trained players ahead of national and international sporting events.

JCI representative N.B. Harshavardhan Reddy, District Sports Development Officer Sasidhar and SAAP board member E. Rajani were also present.
