A Real-Time Tracker For Suvendu Govt's Election Promises: Website Shows 11 Assurances 'In Progress'

The tracker, called 'BJP Sarkar Promises', has listed 140 election promises made by the BJP, with 11 shown to be "in progress".

Days after forming the government in West Bengal, the Suvendu Adhikari-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government now has a real-time tracker on the party’s poll assurances, with 11 promises shown to be “in progress".

The BJP has made at least 140 promises before the elections, including cracking down on infiltration, exposing Trinamool Congress’s (TMC) corruption, ending “cut money" culture, and extending Rs 3,000 monthly financial support to women.

Of the 140 promises made during the poll campaign, 11 promises have been listed under the “in progress" section on the tracker, called ‘BJP Sarkar Promises’. It also showed a timer indicating the time left to fulfil the remaining 129 promises of the government.

Which Promises Are ‘In Progress’?

• Crackdown on infiltration to ensure national security
• End syndicate activities — curtailing “cut money" culture
• Rs 3,000 monthly financial support to women
• Legislation to implement Uniform Civil Code — strict law to stop cattle smuggling
• Implement Ayushman Bharat + all Central schemes, free HPV vaccination, breast cancer screening, AIIMS/IIT/IIM in North Bengal
• Clear all Dearness Allowance (DA) arrears and ensure the implementation of 7th Pay Commission
• Restore the rule of law and restore the public’s trust in state institutions.
• Provide free transportation for women in all state-run buses.
• Provide age relaxation of up to 5 years and ensure opportunities for candidates who suffered due to repeated paper leaks and exam cancellations since 2015.
• Complete all stalled Kolkata Metro projects.

After taking oath as Chief Minister on May 9, Suvendu Adhikari held his first cabinet meeting, where his government decided to transfer land to the BSF for India-Bangladesh border fencing. He also approved the immediate implementation of central schemes like Ayushman Bharat.

Adhikari and other newly elected MLAs on Wednesday took oath in the Legislative Assembly after the BJP’s historic win in the state. Adhikari also vacated the Nandigram seat by taking oath as the MLA from Bhabanipur, where he defeated former CM Mamata Banerjee.

Adhikari on Saturday took oath as the ninth Chief Minister of West Bengal. The oath of office was administered by Governor RN Ravi at a grand swearing-in ceremony in Kolkata attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Ministers and senior BJP leaders.
