The Fifth Indian Open Jumps Competition began in Bengaluru. Abdulla Aboobacker won gold in the men’s triple jump with 16.83m.

The Fifth Indian Open Jumps Competition kicked off with a thrilling battle for the gold medal in the men’s triple jump on Saturday at the Anju Bobby George Foundation Campus in Bengaluru. Abdulla Aboobacker and Praveen Chithravel faced off, but it was Aboobacker who emerged victorious. Representing the Air Force, Aboobacker found his rhythm on his third attempt, securing the gold with a leap of 16.83m. His initial jump was 16.05m, followed by 16.57m on his second attempt. He chose not to participate in the last three jumps.
Praveen Chithravel earned the silver medal with a jump of 16.78m in this season-opening event.
In the men’s high jump, Sarvesh Anil Kushare from the army dominated the competition. He cleared 2.16m on his third attempt to win gold, although he was unable to clear 2.19m.

The men’s pole vault event was highly competitive, with training partners Dev Meena and Kuldeep Kumar aiming to surpass the national record of 5.40m set by Meena last year. Both athletes cleared 5.25m, but no one succeeded in breaking the record. Dev Meena was the first to clear 5.25m, earning him the top spot for the day.

Men: Triple jump: Abdulla Aboobacker (Air Force) 16.83m, Praveen Chithravel (Tamil Nadu) 16.78m, Gailey Venister (Tamil Nadu) 16.48m.
